About Us

The Meadows showcases the importance of creativity and community coming together in many modalities. Our gallery, shop, studios, and events are all inspired by bringing people together, having the courage to share, and more importantly, the courage to listen and consider new perspectives.

The folks of The Meadows

The Meadows is home to a collective of local artists and makers whose creativity defines the space. On a day-to-day level, co-owners and curators Abby Dare and John Scully guide the vision, supported by a wonderful team of Gallery Associates. Together, we share a mission of fostering creativity, connection, and community—making The Meadows a place where art and people thrive.

Abby Dare

Co-Owner

Abby is a community builder, facilitator, comedian, and artist. She believes that a healing home has the power to ripple out into the world. With curiosity and humor, she encourages others to share their ideas and voices—because expression takes courage, practice, and is always worth the investment. At The Meadows, Abby enjoys shaping an eclectic, welcoming space where creativity feels at home.

John Scully

Co-Owner

John is a ceramic artist, general contractor, and co-owner of The Meadows. After spending many of his formative years in community art studios, he was inspired to bring that same spirit to Ely through a space that values material, process, and connection. The Meadows is a special place in this town, and John is proud to be part of its creative community.

Hi! I’m Hayley and I have been working at the Meadows basically since Abby and John first opened it up! I am always so excited for my shift because I feel more connected to the Ely community and to my creativity when I’m there. Artists and art appreciators of all ages can come and instantly feel inspired and connected to the human impulse to create. I’m grateful to be surrounded by that magic every week and for this community hub bringing the people of Ely together. See ya there :-)
